Desert Trekking – Follow the Footsteps of the Caravans
Your Sahara trekking adventure begins as the camels are loaded after breakfast and the journey continues deeper into the vast desert. Crossing wind-shaped dunes and wide rocky plains, you walk through remote landscapes and hidden oases that once served as resting places for ancient caravan routes.
Each afternoon, camp is set up in beautiful desert locations together with your guide and camel team. Enjoy traditional Moroccan meals by the campfire, freshly baked bread from the sand, and stories about nomadic life. Under the clear night sky filled with stars, the silence of the Sahara creates unforgettable moments.

Program
Your journey begins in Marrakech, with its vibrant souks and the famous Djemaa el Fna square. From there, travel across the High Atlas to Ouarzazate and the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou. Following the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, you pass the Dades Valley, Todgha Gorge, and the Draa Valley before your Sahara trekking adventure begins near Zagora, leading through vast desert landscapes before returning to Marrakech.

Day 1 – Welcome to Morocco
Individual arrival in Marrakech
You will be welcomed at the airport by your driver and transferred to your hotel in the city.
Depending on your arrival time, there will be an opportunity for your first sightseeing experiences.
Overnight stay in a 3-star hotel or riad, incl. breakfast / approx. 10 km transfer.
Day 2 – the High Atlas
Marrakech to Ouarzazate
Travel from Marrakech across the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m) through the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, visit the famous Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage kasbah and well-known film location, before continuing to Ouarzazate.

Overnight stay in a traditional riad (e.g. Dar Chamaa or similar), incl. breakfast and dinner.
Day 3 – Along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs
Ouarzazate – Rose Valley – Dades Valley – Tinghir (Todgha Gorge)
Today we drive along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through oasis landscapes and Berber villages to the Dades Valley and Tinghir. Continue to the impressive Todgha Gorge, where steep cliffs rise up to 500 meters above the narrow canyon.

Day 4 – the Anti-Atlas
Tinghir to Zagora
We cross the Tazazert Pass (approx. 2,300 m) through the dramatic landscapes between the Anti-Atlas and Jbel Saghro. Continue to Zagora, where panoramic views open over the lush Draa Valley.

Day 5 – Into the Sahara
Zagora to M’hamid & Desert Trek
Travel from Zagora to M’hamid, the gateway to the Sahara, where you meet your trekking team and camels. Begin your desert adventure walking through vast dunes and remote landscapes towards Ras Enkhil. A relaxing lunch in the shade of acacia trees offers a peaceful break.

Day 6 – Desert trekking
Desert Trekking in the Sahara
After breakfast, continue your trek across the desert plains toward Sidi Naji, a small marabout (mausoleum). After lunch nearby, the journey continues through the vast Sahara landscapes and majestic dunes.
Walk: approx. 6–7 hrs

Day 7 – Desert trekking
Desert Trekking in the Sahara
Start early in the morning and trek across desert plateaus and dunes toward Erg Zaher. After reaching the camp, there is time to climb the towering sand dunes and enjoy a spectacular sunset over the endless desert landscape.

Day 8 – Desert trekking

In the coming days, follow an ancient caravan route through the heart of the dunes, starting from Erg Smar. Walking across vast desert landscapes, you experience the silence and unique beauty of the Sahara.

Day 9 – Desert trekking
Desert Trekking in the Sahara
An early start leads you toward Erg Sedra, walking through majestic sand dunes as the rising sun bathes the desert in warm colors. The silence of the Sahara and the ever-changing dune landscapes create a truly unforgettable atmosphere.

Day 10 – Desert trekking
Desert Trekking in the Sahara
Today the caravan sets out on its final stage through varied desert landscapes of dunes and tamarisk trees until reaching the impressive Erg Chigaga. In the evening, enjoy one last spectacular sunset and a memorable final night in the desert.

Day 11 – From the Sahara to the Draa Valley
Erg Chigaga to Agdez
Drive by 4x4 through the desert back to M’hamid, the starting point of your trek. From there, continue along the beautiful Draa Valley toward Agdez, passing palm groves, traditional kasbahs, and small oasis villages.
Approx. 1.5 hrs by 4x4 + 190 km drive

Day 12 – Across the Anti-Atlas
Agdez to Taroudant
Travel through the rugged landscapes of the Anti-Atlas. Pass through Taznakht, known for its traditional Berber carpets, and Taliouine, Morocco’s famous saffron region, before reaching Taroudant.

Day 13 – End of the Caravan Route
From Taroudant to Marrakech
From Taroudant, the route leads across the southern slopes of the High Atlas Mountains back to Marrakech. This scenic journey marks the final stage of your adventure through southern Morocco.

Day 14 – Majestic Imperial City of Marrakech
Marrakech city tour
Today you explore the vibrant Medina of Marrakech, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit Djemaa el Fna square, wander through colorful souks and discover highlights such as the Koutoubia Mosque and the beautiful Bahia Palace.

Day 15 – Farewell
Individual departure
After breakfast, we bid farewell to Morocco. Transfer to the airport and individual departure.
