This journey takes you from the vibrant imperial city of Marrakech across the High Atlas Mountains into the vast desert landscapes of the Sahara and onward to the Atlantic coast. 11-day journey through southern Morocco. This trip takes you from the vibrant imperial city of Marrakech across the High Atlas Mountains into the vast landscapes of the Sahara Desert and along the Atlantic coast. Encounters with Berber culture, nights in traditional riads and desert camps, spectacular drives through mountain passes and desert valleys, and visits to historic towns such as Taroudant and Essaouira make this journey a diverse and unforgettable Moroccan adventure.

Day 1 – Welcome to Morocco
Individual arrival in Marrakech
You will be welcomed at the airport by your driver and transferred to your hotel in the city.
Depending on your arrival time, there will be an opportunity for your first sightseeing experiences.
Overnight stay in a 3-star hotel or riad (e.g. Riad Dar El Masa or similar), incl. breakfast / approx. 10 km transfer.
Day 2 – Majestic Imperial City of Marrakech
City Tour in Marrakech
Start the day with a Moroccan tea or coffee on the famous Djemaa el Fna square, recognized by UNESCO as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage. Then explore the lively Medina souks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and discover highlights such as the Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, Bab Agnaou, and the beautiful Bahia Palace.
Overnight stay in a 3-star hotel or riad (e.g. Riad Dar El Masa or similar), incl. breakfast.
Day 3 – Across the High AtlaS
Marrakech to Ouarzazate
Today you drive from Marrakech across the Tizi n’Tichka Pass through the High Atlas towards the Draa Valley, the largest palm oasis in Morocco.
Along the way, visit the famous Aït Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most impressive kasbahs and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known as the setting of many international films.
Overnight stay in an ecolodge or riad, including breakfast and dinner / approx. 180 km drive.
Day 4 – Through the Anti-Atlas
Ouarzazate to Zagora
Travel across the Tiz’n Tinififft Pass through the dramatic landscapes between the Anti-Atlas and Jbel Saghro. The route leads through the fascinating canyon system of Aït-Saoun.
Upon arrival in Zagora, enjoy panoramic views over the Draa Valley, home to Morocco’s longest river and the country’s largest palm oasis.
Overnight stay in a riad in Zagora, including breakfast and dinner / approx. 160 km drive.
Day 5 – Into the Sahara
Zagora to M’hamid and Erg Chigaga
Enjoy a relaxed morning before heading to M’hamid, the gateway to the Sahara. From there, continue by 4x4 across the dunes to your desert camp in Erg Chigaga.
In the afternoon, an optional camel ride and a spectacular sunset over the dunes await. At night, the clear desert sky reveals countless stars.

Day 6 – Through the Draa Valley Desert
Ouled Driss (M’hamid) to Agdez
After breakfast, travel by 4x4 from the desert back to Ouled Driss (M’hamid) before continuing through the scenic Draa Valley, known for its palm groves, kasbahs, and oasis landscapes.
In the afternoon, arrive in Agdez, the gateway to the Draa Valley.

Day 7 – Through the Atlas Mountains
Agdez to Taroudant
Today you travel across the rugged landscapes of the Anti-Atlas, stopping along the way for scenic photo stops.
Your destination is Taroudant, often called the “Little Marrakech” and an important cultural center for Berber communities of the High and Anti-Atlas.
Overnight stay in a 3-star hotel or riad in Taroudant, including breakfast and dinner / approx. 280 km drive.
Day 8 – To the Atlantic Coast
Taroudant to Essaouira
After about 4 hours of driving, you reach Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador by the Portuguese.
The afternoon is at your leisure to explore this lively coastal town with its colorful shops and relaxed atmosphere. The sandy beaches of Essaouira are among the most beautiful in Morocco.
Overnight stay in a Bed & Breakfast to allow you to enjoy local restaurants / approx. 300 km drive.
Day 9 – Essaouira
Explore at Your Own Pace
Once a historic garrison town, Essaouira became a meeting place for travelers and artists in the 1970s, including Jimi Hendrix. The charming fishing town offers a fresh ocean breeze and beautiful beaches.
The Medina of Essaouira and its historic harbor fortifications are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 10 – Back to Marrakech
Essaouira to Marrakech
Today we travel back to Marrakech.
The afternoon is at leisure to relax and reflect on your journey. In the evening, you may enjoy the magical atmosphere of Marrakech by night at the lively Djemaa el Fna square.

Day 11 – Farewell to Morocco
Individual departure
After breakfast, we bid farewell to Morocco. Transfer to the airport and individual departure.
